Our Vision
A Society where women and young people in Rwanda are empowered to lead, to create change and to live their lives to the fullest.
Leadership Development Program
Our Leadership Development Program is designed to nurture the next generation of leaders. We provide youth and women with training, mentorship, and hands-on opportunities to develop the skills needed to lead at the community, national, and international levels. Participants engage in workshops on critical thinking, public speaking, advocacy, and strategic decision-making, helping them gain the confidence to take on leadership roles.
Advocacy for Gender Equality and Inclusion
YWEN advocates for gender-responsive policies and inclusive governance at all levels. This program focuses on raising awareness and mobilizing action on key issues related to gender equality, women’s rights, and youth participation in governance. We work closely with governments, local authorities, and civil society to ensure that policies and practices promote gender equity and amplify the voices of youth and women in political and decision-making spaces.
Community Engagement & Awareness Campaigns
Our Community Engagement Program focuses on raising awareness about critical social issues affecting youth and women, such as gender-based violence, education, and access to resources. Through public campaigns, community forums, and collaborative events, we empower local communities to take ownership of these issues, build awareness, and take positive actions for change.
Networking and Partnership Development
YWEN facilitates partnerships and collaborations to strengthen the impact of our work. Through this program, we connect youth- and women-led organizations with local, regional, and international stakeholders. These networking opportunities help expand our collective influence, share knowledge and resources, and foster collaborations that drive social change. A key partner in our work is Plan International Rwanda, with whom we share common goals of advancing youth and women’s rights.
Gender Equality & Women's Empowerment
Through our Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Program, we provide women with the tools and support they need to overcome barriers to leadership and participation in society. This program focuses on advancing women's rights, economic empowerment, and creating leadership pathways. It includes training on women’s leadership, financial literacy, and legal rights, as well as efforts to break the barriers that prevent women from fully engaging in political and economic spaces.
Youth Engagement in Governance & Civic Participation
Our Youth Engagement Program empowers young people to be active participants in governance and civic life. We provide platforms for youth to engage with decision-makers and take part in discussions on policies affecting their future. The program includes capacity-building on civic engagement, youth leadership, and political participation, ensuring that youth voices are heard and acted upon in decision-making processes.
Economic Empowerment & Entrepreneurship
YWEN’s Economic Empowerment Program focuses on providing youth and women with the skills and resources they need to achieve economic independence. We offer training in entrepreneurship, financial management, and business development, along with access to mentorship and funding opportunities. This program supports the growth of small businesses and social enterprises, enabling participants to turn ideas into viable economic opportunities.
Mental Health & Well-being Support
YWEN’s Mental Health and Well-being Program addresses the emotional and psychological challenges faced by youth and women. Through counseling, peer support groups, and mental health awareness campaigns, we provide essential resources to help individuals cope with stress, trauma, and mental health challenges. Our goal is to promote overall well-being and reduce the stigma associated with mental health in our communities.
