Creating Leaders: YWEN’s Training Programs Foster Local Leadership

YWEN’s focus on leadership development has been central to its mission of empowering women across Rwanda. One standout success story is that of Julienne Mukamurera from the Southern Province. After attending YWEN’s leadership and gender equality workshops, Julienne gained the confidence and skills needed to advocate for her community.

Before her involvement with YWEN, Julienne struggled to get her voice heard in local governance spaces. However, after participating in the training, she was invited to be a part of her community’s decision-making processes. Today, Julienne is an active community leader who advocates for women’s rights and ensures that women are included in local decision-making.

“My involvement with YWEN has not only made me a stronger leader, but it’s also inspired other women in my community to stand up for themselves,” says Julienne. “Now, I feel confident in my role and am determined to help others do the same.”

Through YWEN’s leadership programs, women like Julienne are learning the skills to navigate governance spaces, advocate for gender equality, and become influential leaders in their communities.
